It's time for our weekly check-in with Michigan men's lacrosse coach Kevin Connery. Coach, welcome back to the show. How are you this week? Doing great. Thank you very much. Can't be bad when you're coming off a two and oh, two and no stretch of games. Let's go through those games real quickly before we look ahead. The first one was Saturday. you were in Milwaukee, you had an indoor game against Marquette. And in this one, it was a close game for a little while. It was 4-4 into the second period. But then you guys really took the scoring to a next level in the third period. And into the fourth, you win the game 14 to 7 on the road to improve at that point to 2 in the season. Take us to the Marquette game. What did you like out of your squad? Yeah, I really like the way we were able to handle their emotion.

Obviously, coming off a really difficult fall, the Marquette team had lost two of their brothers

to a fetal car accident. So we knew this was going to be the first game. We knew there was

going to be a high emotion.

You know, and our guys really weathered the storm.

Marquette came out, you know, 19 shots on goal.

Hunter Taylor was unbelievable.

And then eventually our guys seven into the game and we're able to make some plays down the stretch.

You know, with Kay Rodriguez, really owning the X, really allowed us to kind of go ahead and make a little bit of a run there.

So you get that victory, and it's also part of a short turnaround situation.

So I kind of want to talk about these two games together because you play on Saturday.

You travel home Saturday night.

You have Sunday, Monday, but then you have a Tuesday game where you're playing Detroit Mercy here locally.

So where you win that game 11-7, another closed game for your squad, you give up seven goals actually in each of those games.

But it's also about managing your roster.

It's about splitting the minutes.

How did you manage the prep time to get ready to go between Marquette and the Detroit Mercy game

where you didn't have a lot of turnaround time?

No, we didn't.

And it's a great way to practice kind of getting ready for a tournament style where you have to play Thursday, Saturday, or Friday, Sunday, or Saturday, Monday is the ultimate goal, right?
