Overview

Hey y’all! We are a husband and wife team from Louisiana that discuss murder, mystery, and mayhem with a southern twist!
We cover true crime throughout the South, so pull up a rocking chair, grab your mason jar full of sweet tea, and sit for a spell while we chit chat, and laugh some about this crazy world we live in. If you are ok with some banter and a few well placed f-bombs, you are in the right place and we are glad you are here!
Now if banter and cussing are not for you and you just want us to get to the point, check out our weekly release ”A Little Less Mess” where we cover the same stories but with no added chit chat or humor.

A Little Less Mess [Texas] Linda Donahew

Welcome to A Little Less Mess, it's our companion episode to our main weekly releases. In ALLM, you will find just the facts, no opinions, no jokes, no banter, but do not fear! If you would like to hear our full thoughts on this case (and inappropriate jokes) check out the weekly regular episodes released on Thursdays (they're the numbered episodes). In June of 1987, Linda was found murdered in her home in Arlington, Texas. Although neighbors saw the man that killed Linda, it would take almost 20 years to finally find out his name. To the families surprise, Linda was not the killers only victim... Fun Fact: In Texas, it is illegal to milk another person's cow. The Texas Penal Code states that doing so results in a fine of no more than $10. The current Texas law makes the act a theft of personal property. Find us on the webs! A Little Less Mess [North Carolina] Nancy Cooper

We are headed to North Carolina this week. Nancy and Brad Cooper moved from Canada to Cary, North Carolina and were living in idealistic life in the affluent suburb outside of Raleigh. In 2008, Nancy went for a run but never returned, just two days after going missing, Nancy's body was found. As police investigate, they uncover a contentious divorce, affairs, and a heated child custody battle, all signs were pointing to Brad but with little evidence, it would take years to get justice for Nancy. Fun Fact: North Carolina got the nickname the Tar Heel State because workers here used to sell tar, pitch, and turpentine from the state's longleaf pine trees to be used in wooden ships. Legend has it that some British soldiers were slowed down when they stepped in sticky North Carolina tar during the Revolutionary War. Find us on the webs! This week we are going to Florida-ish...technically we are 30 nautical miles off the coast because this murder occurred on a Cruise! Tamara goes on a Carnival cruise to celebrate her 50th birthday with the love of her life, Eric. But the trip takes a tragic turn when she is found unresponsive three decks below her balcony. Was it an accident, suicide, or murder?!?! Fun Fact: Due to cruise ship superstitions, some cruise ships don’t have a deck 13. While many cruise ships skip deck 13, MSC Cruises skip deck 17 due to a similar Italian superstition. Find us on the webs! 99. [Alabama] Teresa Mayfield

In Alabama, 44 year old mother of three, Teresa Mayfield, goes missing after running some errands. It would not take long to find out what happened to her, less than 24 hours later, her body was found. But police were left wondering if it was suicide or something more sinister. Fun Fact: It is illegal in Alabama to sell, purchase, possess, or train a bear for bear wrestling. Bear wrestling matches used to be a pretty big deal in Alabama. They were so popular that the state of Alabama added a law about “bear exploitation” that explicitly forbids people from engaging in bear wrestling matches. This is a Class B felony which is the same as being charged with manslaughter, so this is a big deal. Find us on the webs! 98. [South Carolina] Melvin Roberts

At 79 years old, business man Melvin Roberts was murdered in his driveway. His girlfriend of over 10 years was bound and dragged away from Melvin while the murder was carried out. Melvin was not short on enemies, but as police looked further into the crime scene, they feared the murderer might have been closer to Melvin than they thought. Fun Fact: Long before South Carolina was known as "The Palmetto State," it was called, "The Iodine State." This resulted from a 1920s agricultural marketing campaign touting elevated levels of iodine in the state’s produce. Strawberries, perhaps surprisingly, are a high source of iodine. College student Stacie Pannell was found bludgeoned to death in her college dorm in the small town of Booneville, Mississippi. Police were at a loss until a very unlikely suspect was identified. Fun Fact: Root beer was created in Biloxi by Edward Adolf Barq. Though the first examples of root beer date back to the 1870s as a drink for miners, it wasn't until later that it gained popularity. The modern version of the drink was invented in Biloxi, Mississippi. Barq created the now-famous Barq's root beer in 1898. The drink was popular right away and saw a boom in sales in the 1920s during the US prohibition. Find us on the webs! Follow us on Instagram Like us on Facebook Support us on Patreon Buy us a Coffee! It would take years to find someone guilty of the crime, but did police get the right person?
