Summary
وقوع جنگ جهانی اول و هجوم ارتش‌های بیگانه به ایران باعث به وجود آمدن قحطی هولناکی شد که روزگار را بر ملت ما سیاه کرد تا آنجا که بخش قابل توجهی از جمعیت ایران آن روز به سبب گرسنگی و سوءتغذیه و بیماری‌های ناشی از آن از بین رفتند. در آن زمان نیروهای اشغالگر انگلیس تمامی منابع و تولیدات کشاورزی ایران را برای گذران نیاز نظامیان در جنگ خود، خریداری کرده و احتکار می‌کردند. عجیب تر اینکه ارتش انگلیس مانع از واردات مواد غذایی از بین النهرین، هند و حتی از آمریکا به ایران شد
