Happy Wednesday. Welcome to another episode of the Chuck Toddcast. Coming up, I've got a terrific interview with Jose Antonio Vargas. He, of course, he's a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who, after winning the Pulitzer Prize, came out as an undocumented citizen.

And in fact, he, undocumented resident.

In fact, he is a memoir that he wrote in 2018 and he's updated it now about, it's called

a memoir of an undocumented citizen.

It's a terrific conversation where we talk about the line between

journalism and activism and what, how collectively we could all be smarter about how we report

on immigration issues and not just always seeing it through the prism of economics.

But before we get to that, there was a pretty big earthquake in the Democratic Party on Tuesday night.

The New York City mayor's race and what happened in that Democratic primary is.

Oran Mamdani's apparent victory.

I say apparent because we still don't have the retabulation,

but the fact that he is ahead on first choice ballots of Andrew Cuomo, I think is beyond

telling. It is the shock. I think most people, including many Mamdani supporters expected on the first ballot, at least, Cuomo, to potentially have a narrow lead.

The fact that he didn't means that Mamdani's likely going to be the nominee.

The real question now is, Cuomo has a ballot line.

Does he stay?

Does he try to run?

Or does he realize he's been shown the door?

This is a pretty humiliating defeat for Andrew Cuomo, wants the king of the Democratic Party

in New York to not even be able to finish first in a plurality in a Democratic primary

in New York City.
