I'm your host Chris Christensen. I say continues the study of

Zephaniah. We conclude the study of Zephaniah, chapter three. This is a short book.

And Zephaniah chapter three main themes. Jerusalem. Jerusalem remains unrepentant

and restoration of Israel's remnant. Let's get started. Jerusalem. Woe to the city of

oppressors, rebellious and defiled. She obeys no one. She accepts no correction. She does not

trust in the Lord. She does not hear. She does not draw near to her God. Her officials within her are

roaring lions. Her rulers are evening wolves,

who leave nothing for the morning. Her prophets are unprincipled. They are treacherous people.

Her priests profane the sanctuary and do violence to the law. The Lord within her is righteous.

He does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice and every new day he does not fail.

Yet the unrighteous, no, no shame. I was reminded with these verses of Jesus when he is in Jerusalem

and saying Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and how long God had wanted to gather Jerusalem to him.

And this is that same theme.

That's Jerusalem that is often the source of the problem.

And of course, that comes in part when you have a bad king who is leading the people in the

wrong direction.

We see that a lot in the book of first and second kings and first and second chronicles.

But woe to the city of oppressors, rebellious and defiled.

That is not how you want to be, you know, that's not that the city nickname you necessarily want to choose.
