I started by asking Francis for the latest news from Washington.

Well, thanks, David, and good afternoon, everyone.

As you say, quite an extraordinary day yesterday.

I watched it all from Telegraph towers. It was the evening here, of course, but not in Washington, DC.

It looked like a very cold day in Washington, but a beautiful one, clear blue skies.

And we watched as Vladimir Zelensky was given a thunderous reception,

as he told a joint session of Congress that Ukraine is alive and kicking and would never surrender.

He spoke for about 20 minutes, repeatedly interrupted by standing evations.

It has to be said. And he invoked the spirit of the Second World War and the American War of Independence.
