And we're beginning with the latest extraordinary scenes out of Washington, D.C.

Extraordinary because this is Donald Trump doing diplomacy in a way that is, frankly, remarkable to witness.

It's fast-paced, its top volume, and it's extremely high stakes.

Following his summit on Friday in Alaska with Vladimir Putin, it was the turn today of Vlodomis Zelensky

to try to persuade President Trump of the rightness of his cause, of Ukraine's

cause, and how the peace which the American president so earnestly and impatiently says he's after,

that that peace can only be agreed on what, as far as Ukraine and indeed the rest of Europe,

are concerned, are fair, credible and sustainable terms, on which point

while the two men were meeting at the West Wing, just to add to the extraordinaryness of the

moment, waiting in another corner of the White House were several European leaders there to show

their support for Mr. Zelensky. There was then a round table

that had all those European leaders and Mr. Zelensky and Mr. Trump talking to each other in a rather

stilted fashion. We'll bring you some of that in a moment. But just remember that all this

comes after the last time the Ukrainian

president was in the Oval Office six months ago when he was completely skewered by Mr. Trump

and his vice president, J.D. Vance. So for all these reasons, we're going to take a fair bit of the

program trying to work out the significance of what's been said so far

and what might yet come out of today's meetings. We're going to begin with the sound of

Lottemis Zelensky and Donald Trump dealing with the media throng inside the Oval Office about three

hours ago. President Zelensky, you say in a post on X today, Russia must end this war, which it itself started.

President Trump, you say President Zelensky of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately if he wants to, which is it?
