When I think about my time that I spent in a combat zone, one of the most chilling memories

that I have is the first time that I went to a combat-related memorial service, still in theater.

It was for another dog hamler whose name was Corporal Dustin Lee. And in Dustin's Lee's funeral

there, they do the military has a tradition of what's called the tap ceremony where they do a

roll call. And in that roll call, we have a first sergeant usually or a sergeant major,

or we'll call everyone to attention. And they'll begin calling the names of the people that are

in the same platoon or in the same unit. And ours would go something like this.

Ars would go Staff Sergeant, Staff Sergeant Catherine, and I would say here, Corporal Manion,

Manion would say here, Kate would say here, Captain Cons, Cons would say here. But then they get

to the point where the person who was killed in action like Dustin Lee, where they say Corporal Lee,

Corporal Lee, Corporal Dustin Lee. And once they don't answer at that moment,

they take the time to have a somber ceremony and taps begins to play softly.

This year we lost several veterans, several military members that were killed in action

throughout from last memorial day to this memorial day. These are those names.
