Today my guest is R. Zamora Lindmark, Sack Linmark.

He's the author of a book called Rolling the R's.

It's a first novel.

It's from a brand new press, Kaya Production.

They published the work of the contemporary Asian avant-garde. So far, Kaya has done an anthology

called Premonitions, which is an anthology of New Asian North American Poetry. They've published

Rolling the R's by my guest, Ars Amora Lindmark, who is a Hawaiian

writer and who writes about the breakdown of unitarianness into the diversity of culture,

of pigeons, of languages, of sexualities. Tell me, how did this book get started?

I'm on Aries, so I started the project in 1992, not knowing that it would develop into a novel.

Writers often talk about, you know, let the book write itself. This is a classic example of that.

And like I said before, I'm on Airy, so I started the project in 92,

and then I abandoned it in 92 because I got bored or I didn't challenge myself enough.

And it just so happened that Jessica Haggardorn was going around calling for

submissions for Charlie Chan is dead. And so I said, well, why not? You know, I've been rejected

before by, you know, smaller publications. And so I did. And she saw substance in the vignettes.

And she accepted it.
