So what did you do after that then? Did that turn did that turn into creating? So volunteering and kind of giving my life over to the dogs just

naturally as a mechanism to try to stay away from suicidal thoughts and to try to plug myself

into any purpose. It just set into motion all of these things that I had almost no control over.

My community, the pet lodge and the Tatsby Veterinary Hospital said, look, dude, like, we really need you. We think you should do this. And I'm like, do what? They're like, start a dog rescue. I'm like, ah, you know, I'm just a drunk with a dream. That'll never work. Like like the IRS will never approve me I'll never get

non-profit status like I didn't know I didn't know how these things worked what I mean was there

ever a reality check come to Jesus with your dad of saying okay I'm glad you're better you're in

my fucking garage there's 50 dogs in it like you got to figure something else out here like was

there ever one of those?

God, it's so funny that you say that, man, because no, there wasn't.

As a dad, I can fucking imagine, like.

There wasn't, you know, he, I think, especially because my dad grew up without a father,

I think bringing all those animals into our home on a regular basis, I think it revealed to him a

part of himself that he didn't know. Like he became so much more loving and so much more connected.

My dad was never a hugger, any of those things. He's like one of the most loving guy. He's still

not the best hugger. But he's so connected to those dogs and he's so determinedly in love with me as his son

that he was so happy that I was not dying anymore.

He was so, and I think at the beginning he was really still scared.
