Summary
Zach Lahn, Scott Pelley, Bill Pulte, and the California jungle primary headline today's A.M. Update. In a photo finish, businessman Zach Lahn defeats Trump-endorsed congressman Randy Feenstra in Iowa's Republican gubernatorial primary by less than a percentage point, and Aaron says the MAHA coalition was the deciding factor. California's jungle primary has Steve Hilton leading the Republican pack while Tom Steyer and Xavier Becerra close strong on the Democratic side, raising the possibility that two Democrats could end up in the general. Trump names FHFA director Bill Pulte as acting DNI to replace Tulsi Gabbard, a pick Aaron notes will have trouble clearing the Senate. Scott Pelley is fired at CBS after going nuclear on Bari Weiss in front of the entire 60 Minutes staff, calling her a murderer of the show, and Aaron sides with Weiss. The Supreme Court clears Alabama to use its redrawn congressional districts, Mehmet Oz announces $50 Medicare GLP-1 coverage starting July 1st, and Aaron closes with Indiana Governor Mike Braun's nuclear family month proclamation and a viral video of a corporate employee who submitted a biblical take on pride to his company's own open-call campaign, after which the entire program was quietly shut down.

| 0:00.0 | It's Wednesday, June 3, 26, a major upset in my backyard of Iowa, kicking illegals out of banks, |
| 0:07.5 | and a longtime journalist fired for cause next on the AM update. |
| 0:16.1 | Well, by the thinnest of margins we had, one the first kind of high profile upsets in this round of |
| 0:22.7 | primaries ahead of the midterm elections this November and it just so happened to take place in |
| 0:28.0 | my backyard of Iowa in the gubernatorial primary in the Hawkeye State. As of like six, seven, |
| 0:36.1 | eight months ago, a little known farmer and businessman named Zach Lane. |
| 0:40.2 | Well, he sprang that upset by less than a percentage point of the total vote. |
| 0:45.6 | This comes after Congressman Randy Feinstra, who was also running for Iowa governor. |
| 0:50.3 | He received the endorsement of President Trump late last week. |
| 0:53.3 | We talked about that earlier this week. |
| 0:55.8 | A lot of things, this was an intriguing primary, to say the least. I have an immense amount of respect for four out of the five people who threw their hats into the rings. That would be Eddie Andrews, Brad Sherman, Adam Steen, and Zach Lane. Don't have as much respect for Randy Feinstra, but he did call and concede last night the election. |
| 1:13.7 | So a very interesting development in Iowa. And here's what I think, I think you can take note of this in other states around the country as well. |
| 1:22.4 | Zach Lane had the endorsement of TP action, but also I think the Maha pack and Maha world, the Make America |
| 1:29.1 | Healthy Again world. And boy howdy, that really energized a critical mass of people to come |
| 1:35.4 | together and support him. There were some other things that happened down the stretch in the |
| 1:40.7 | aftermath of the endorsement from Trump to Fienstra that may have tipped this |
| 1:46.4 | election into Lane's hands. Very dramatic finish, a photo finish, if you will, but I think |
| 1:52.3 | the lesson here is Republican candidates, even in states like Iowa, it's not just a sure |
| 1:57.3 | thing that you're going to win on a generic Republican establishment message |
| 2:01.0 | and the backing of President Trump's endorsement. |
| 2:03.6 | This is not, I don't think, the first endorsement that's failed this cycle for Trump, |
| 2:08.3 | but it is the most high profile one. |
