It’s taken 13 1/2 years but I have now done 1,000 episodes! To celebrate, my dear friend Zach Golfinhackus met me at The Comedy Store and turned the tables by interviewing ME. Lots of laughs and an amazing time with a brilliant and decent human being.

0:15.6 | Hey, thanks for tuning in. Today is a very special episode of Fitstog Radio. We did it! A thousand episodes, it sounds crazy. |
0:26.9 | I can't believe we're here. We're here. I mean, I'm not a big numbers guy. I'm not like a numerology guy. Not that into birthdays. My was last week, thanks. |
0:39.0 | But this feels big. I'm getting very sentimental about it. I'm very sorry. My Gibbons is not on this podcast. He was out of town the last two weeks, and we couldn't do it. |
0:50.9 | But Mike is a huge part of my time, both on SiriusXM on Howard Stern's show that I did for 10 years, and the podcast. He's my best friend. He's a fantastic guy, super talented. |
1:05.9 | And I have to thank him for his commitment to this as well. |
1:11.9 | So, thank you, Mike. And thanks to DJCWeed, who threw in that little 1000 episodes, little ditty, little hook. Thank you. It's been 13 and a half years. |
1:26.9 | I did two a week for the first eight or nine years, and I just have a lot of gratitude to a lot of people. Number one, my father. |
1:38.9 | I would not have thought I could do this for a living. If my father hadn't done it, he was one of the best announcers in New York City for many years. |
1:49.9 | And I watched him work, and I watched, I watched his hours. I watched him work four hours a day. I thought, that's not bad. |
1:57.9 | And my grandfather, who was my mother's father, came over from Ireland at 16, worked for the electric company, putting up fucking wires. I mean, he's tough guy. |
2:11.9 | And he met my father, and he asked him what he does. And he found out his hours. And he says, well, you may come home hungry, but you'll never come home tired. |
2:23.9 | So that's big. We're going to do a special, the 30th anniversary of my dad's passing is next month. And I've got a bunch of tapes that I'm finally going through from his radio show, him talking to Mayor Ed Koch, and a bunch of you just talk to him every day for years on the air. |
2:44.9 | So we're going to do a special anniversary show for Father's Day this year. Also my, and then the next generation, my son now does a radio show at his college. And he did a podcast when he was in high school with his buddies that I kind of kind of produced, kind of pulled it together. |
3:02.9 | And I think people heard my kids grow up on this show for 13 and a half years. I'm proud to say I've never offended them. I really hope I've gone out of my way to never say anything that they would be ashamed of. |
3:16.9 | I mean, they'd be ashamed of some of the shit I've said I've done, but I've never talked about them in a disparaging way or my wife. |
3:24.9 | So, but really this podcast has kept me in show business. There's times where I'm not doing TV shows for a while. And this is the thing that has kept me going. It's, it's been an opportunity to hang out with close friends and sit with them for an hour into a podcast. It's been a chance to meet new people that are exciting that I never thought I would be able to get on my show. |
3:49.9 | And it's helped me get people to come to my standup shows and buy my book and watch my specials and all that other stuff that that's a byproduct of doing this. And so, so thank you. I want to thank Howard Stern, who gave me that radio show that led into this podcast. |
4:07.9 | I want to thank Joe Rogan, who was a big supporter of this show. He's, I've been on his show about 22 times and he's always promoting this. Adam Corolla, same thing, huge supporter, been on there like once a month for the last 15 years. |
4:24.9 | So, yeah, I did it. I mean, I, I've been doing a lot of other stuff. I haven't been just podcasting. I've been doing on the road doing standup somehow like still getting the episode done every week, writing on TV shows sometimes working, you know, 14 hour days every day and just finding a way to get home and at two in the morning crank out a podcast. |
4:51.9 | Sick doing it while sick while raising kids through the pandemic. |
4:57.9 | In hotel rooms and green rooms all over the country, all right, other countries, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica. |
