This is true crime catch.

These days you can track the movements of just about anyone.

Through the constant interactions we all have with friends and family via text, via social media.

All day long we are in communication.

Plugged in to something.

Thanks to the little computer most of us have in our hands right this very moment.

But for the vast majority of time that human beings have been bumping around on this planet,

we have been on our own unable to keep tabs on one another in any other way than by letter or a knock on the door

or planning ahead to meet at a particular place at a particular time.

And things sometimes would happen to people.

And nobody ever figured out how or why.

In an age before organized police forces, which again is for the majority of time human beings have existed, the vast majority of time.

People really did seem to just fall off the face of the earth.

They still do of course.

But for the last century or so, we've at least had some means to communicate and assist in the search, the investigation of a mysterious death or disappearance.

I'd be lost without my phone.

It's said quite a lot.

But I'm of the mind that many of us would find ourselves without this thing that's been sucking the life force for most of us for the past 15 years or so.

And that's not the point here.

I may be going too far off track, becoming lost myself in the process of delineating whatever my point was supposed to be here.
