Dynastic marriages carefully arranged, alliances brokered, women serving as pawns in the political chess game.

But every so often a woman tossed that script into the fire and married scandalously, sometimes for love,

sometimes for passion, and sometimes for reasons that no one at court could quite forgive.

Today, we are going to look at a few of those cases where women bucked convention, caused

gossip, and in some cases, changed history entirely.
