Summary

Many adults look back fondly on their years in the church youth group or other parachurch ministries like Young Life and understand the impact that those ministries had on their faith. How has youth ministry changed over the years, and what has stayed the same? What qualities are needed to be an effective youth minister, and what challenges do leaders face in today’s culture? To shine some light on this subject, the guys are joined by Carl’s friend and a fellow Grove City College professor, Duffy Robbins, Professor of Youth Ministry and a 45-year veteran in the field. 0:31.6	Thank you. Welcome to Mortification of Spin. My name's Carl Truman. I'm a professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College in beautiful, western Pennsylvania. And I'm here with my friend, Todd Pruitt, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg. Virginia, good to be with you again, Todd.
1:08.5	Carl, it's always a pleasure to see you. I am so encouraged by the fact
1:16.7	that after all of these years of knowing you, you feel comfortable enough to look slovenly

1:33.3	collar. I see nothing that would suggest pressing or ironing or anything like that.
1:39.7	It's a t-shirt. There is a rumor among students of Grove City College that I do own some
1:44.2	t-shirts, but they have ties tied on the front on the front. You can actually confirm this has
1:50.4	no tie died on the front. There's no tie on it. However, I would be remiss if I did not mention
1:58.3	the fact that there is nevertheless, though it is a T-shirt, it does have a
2:04.3	rather pretentious pedigree, shall we say, right? I mean, there's something about Princeton,
2:11.7	which is some small college in New Jersey, I heard. It was given to be by Professor Robert
2:14.8	George at Princeton as part of the James Madison program.
