I want to talk to you today about deciding to be happy ahead of time.

Now what do I mean by that?

As human beings, our default setting can so easily be reactive.

When something good happens in inverted commas in the external world, we feel good.

When something bad happens, once again, in inverted commas in the outside world we feel bad.

It's like we're living a bit like a balloon that's how I picture it's like don't deflate me,

don't put a pin in me so long as everything is good and safe and just vibing around

me I can be happy, but the second something bad happens, ooh, I'm always at risk.

I don't want to go through life with that extreme sensitivity.

It's almost like a real vulnerability that you go through when you're constantly living in

this reactive state.

And I want to share with you something that used to happen actually as I was growing up

that my mother modeled for me that kind of gave me an understanding of the power that we have to make a

decision to be happy to future pace almost our happiness by deciding ahead of time that whatever happening is what

should be happening. So if you ever live in shelter accommodation, right?

So government accommodation, so we lived in domestic violence shelters.

Quite a few different ones as I was growing up.

When there is a housing placement that comes up for you,

you're really excited,

and the next step is to go and see it, right?

To go and see what the accommodation is like.
