All you. This episode is about what I call self-aggression. Those tiny but brutal ways we attack ourselves for daring to experiment, for not being perfect, for being… human. And here’s the thing: it’s costing you way more than you realize. I’ll walk you through why we confuse self-criticism with professi...

Hello, my friends. Welcome to another episode of the Savvy Painter Podcast. I am your host,

0:04.3

Aunt Trees Wood. And if you have been listening for a while, welcome back. And if you are new here,

0:10.8

welcome. I'm so glad you found me. Savvy Painter Podcast is the podcast for artists who want

0:16.3

practical tactical tips to create a meaningful art practice that is both fulfilling and supports you.

0:24.0

So picture this. You're standing in your studio, brush in hand, completely focused on the

0:30.4

canvas in front of you. You make a brush stroke, maybe it's a highlight on the cheek or a shadow

1:20.8

1:23.0

Of course not.

1:23.9

You'd probably say something like, hey, what if we tried this other approach? Or, hey, that's

1:28.7

an interesting texture. Let's see where it takes us. Where do we want to go next with this? So if that's

1:35.0

the way that we would treat another painter, another friend of ours, why do we accept this kind of

1:40.6

treatment from ourselves? And more importantly, what is this kind of treatment costing

1:46.1

us creatively? Today, we're diving deep into something that is happening in studios everywhere,

1:51.7

but I don't think anyone's really talking about it. It's subtle. It's automatic and it's absolutely
