Tori's voice is semi back and so she's going to be picking up with another devotional from our live on purpose devotional.

Yes y'all today's verse is Psalm 119 verse 18 and it says open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.

The devotional is titled warmed by God's word and it says for three years Peter followed Jesus not the social media kind of follow from afar.

Peter literally walked right beside him they were close best friends.

Then one night when Jesus's ministry on earth was about to come to an end he tried to explain to Peter and the other disciples what was coming.

He told them he was going to a place where they could not follow or at least then Peter did not like this.

I will lay down my life for you Peter said but Jesus answered very truly I tell you before the rooster crows you will disown me three times.

Later that night when the band of soldiers and priests came to arrest Jesus Peter rushed out and cut off a guy's ear he proved he was ready to lay down his life for Jesus.

But when Jesus stopped him and let himself be arrested confusion set in Peter and all the other disciples ran away.

Let's give Peter some credit though he came back he went all the way to the high priest courtyard that's when the Bible says something interesting.

It was cold so Peter stood near the fire warming himself.

When our faith is cold and we're confused about our relationship with Jesus that's usually when the toughest challenges come.

Peter didn't understand God's plan for Jesus at the moment he was confused and their relationship felt a little cold.

So when the servant girl said hey it weren't you with that guy Jesus Peter let the cold and confusion do the talking and said no three times.

So many times we encounter God at Christian events and get a spiritual high but when that runs out we get cold in our faith and start to wonder where God is.

Peter was just in an extreme version of that feeling far away from Jesus can lead to making decisions we later regret even to deny Jesus.

But just because your faith feels cold or you're confused do not assume that he is not with you he is you have to trust him and trust his plan.

Don't warm yourself at the world's fires because they don't last warm yourself and your faith with his word it will spark a fire that never stops burning.

Yeah I really like this devotional it there's a few points in it that really stood out to me I think the first one was about that like kind of spiritual high we may get whenever we attend a conference or like a like a worship night or whatever I'm not knocking those yeah those are incredible they like fan the flame yeah they fan the flame yeah but the flame is already there you know like those conferences or worship nights etc they aren't our flame exactly Jesus is the flame.
