So our confidence in life comes from the promise of God for our lives.

So the question today is what promise are you carrying for your life?

And with Chellin, I first got married.

We were living in Waco, Texas.

She graduated with a business degree.

I was sort of finding my way into this campus ministry that we hadn't planned.

That's a translation for I was unemployed.

And she got a job in this large independent insurance agency.

The largest in central Texas.

And if you know anything about Chellin, she's graded everything she does.

So she immediately started learning the insurance business.

She got licensed to be an insurance broker.

And before long, she had moved all the way up to the head of operations for this really big company.

Meanwhile, we have sort of a blossoming college ministry going on on the campus, but I'm still unemployed.

And so she's the breadwinner in our family.

And that's amazing.

God's providing for us that way because we're not really on a path that we knew exactly how it was going to work out.

So we're thanking God that she's got a good job thanking God that I've got a great opportunity in ministry.

But as her life course normally goes, favor was on her.

And she was moving up in responsibility, traveling more, involved in more meetings.

And I was speaking on different campuses around the country.

And our lives were sort of going two different directions for a while.
