The opening chapters of the Bible are the seedbed for the truth found throughout the rest of Scripture.

As we study the first 11 chapters of Genesis, we will discover principles that can guide us as we seek to have a new beginning with God. Are you in need of a

0:23.5

spiritual reset? Good news. Our God is the God of new beginnings. Let's join Scott Pauley now. I often think it's very helpful that we spend some time regularly in both the Old Testament and the New Testament,

0:45.4

and that you make the connections God makes in His Word.

0:49.7

Remember, we're comparing Scripture with Scripture.

0:52.9

It has rightly been said that the greatest commentary on the Bible is the Bible itself.

0:57.1

So could I give you a recommendation as we're pondering and meditating on these new beginnings,

1:02.5

these first principles, take Genesis 1 and John 1 and lay them side by side.

1:09.4

1:21.7

there is light. The Lord Jesus brings light into this world. In Genesis 1, there is the power of the word of God. God speaks,

1:29.4

and it's so, and it's very good. And Jesus shows up in John chapter 1. Who is he? The word made flesh

1:34.6

and dwelt among us. In Genesis 1, you have the beginning of all life. Go to John chapter 1. In him was

1:40.9

life and the life was the light of men. And so we're coming to understand the

1:45.9

Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Jesus of the New Testament, one true and living God. He's the God

1:52.9

of creation. Praise God. He's the God who can recreate, who can make new again. He's the God of new beginnings.

2:00.9

So we return today to Genesis chapter 1.

2:02.8

Now, when we left off in our study, we were looking at verses 2 through 5 at the very first day.

2:08.8

And we've learned two things about God.

2:11.1

Number one, God moved and number two, God said.

2:13.6

So, Lord, move on us and Lord speak to us.

2:17.5

Let's add two more to it today.
