who is founder and CEO of MotherTree, a fascinating website, which helps us calculate the impact

of our investing on the environment and then helps us then to figure out how we can improve that.

And we're all obviously increasingly conscious of climate change and the need to make big strides

towards slowing and then eventually reversing global warming. So I think this is very timely.

Well, it's my pleasure to welcome to the meaningful money podcast, Dan Sherrod Smith of MotherTree. Welcome, Dan. How you doing?

Hi, yeah, very well. Thank you, Pete. Good stuff. Where are you two? Where are you speaking to us from?

I live in Bratislava to Slovakia. Do you know, I don't think I knew that before we started talking to me,

and you're going to say London. Bratislava, wow, fantastic. How's that come about? Because you're obviously a Brit by birth?

Yeah, yeah, it was born just like a London grew up in South Wales, but my wife is a Slovak. So when COVID hit,

probably like one of the only silver linings was suddenly you could live wherever you wanted. You

no longer had to be in the office. Yeah. And she was pregnant. So we had the conversation of where would

you like to give birth and she wanted to be in her mum. So we moved out here. Totally understandable.

Amazing. Well, I mean, it's incredible that we can have conversations like this anywhere in the

world and coming through London clear, which is great. Okay, Dan, give us the sort of origin story,

man, who you are, what is it you do and how you got to this point? Yeah, so I am the founder and CEO

of MotherTree and MotherTree's mission is to make it as easy as possible for people to go green and

save money on all life choices. How did I get to that point? So I guess I did a degree in history
