0:00.0 | Let's talk about what caused your diabetes, okay? If you have diabetes, this video is for |
0:19.8 | you and it's a very important video for you to understand how you got there, okay? First |
0:25.9 | thing I want to talk about is normal blood sugar. A person who is healthy should normally |
0:30.6 | have about 80 milligrams per deciliter of sugar in their blood. And what does this mean? |
0:37.9 | It means that you basically have about one teaspoon of sugar in your blood. That's not |
0:43.9 | that much. An average American consumes 31 teaspoons of sugar. But why do they have |
0:52.1 | normal blood sugars? I mean, it doesn't make sense. You would think that this blood sugar would |
0:56.2 | go up immediately, right? Well, it doesn't because of this one thing. And the hormone is called |
1:02.8 | insulin. Anything more than one teaspoon out of the blood and it hides it in other places in the |
1:08.8 | body. It's basically a storage hormone. But what's ironic is that the blood sugars are tested, |
1:15.5 | but insulin is rarely tested. If they were to test it, test the average American, they would find |
1:22.9 | this screaming high. Why? Because an average person consumes 31 teaspoons per day of sugar. |
1:31.6 | In order to deal with all that excess, this hormone is just working over time 24 a seven. What does |
1:38.7 | this hormone do with this sugar? Well, it has to put it somewhere. So what it does is it converts |
1:44.6 | it first to the fat cell. Then it starts putting it into what's called the subcutaneous fat, |
1:50.4 | which is the superficial layer of fat just beneath your skin. So there's quite a bit of surface |
1:55.9 | area for your body to store fat in that way. So that goes on for a period of time. Then when |
2:01.3 | happens, you start developing what's called ectopic fat. And ectopic fat is the fat outside the fat |
2:09.3 | cell. It's outside the subcutaneous fat. And your body was never designed for this to happen. |
2:17.6 | Because we're talking about fat being now stored in the liver and then the muscles and then the |
2:25.1 | heart. It's very similar to a hoarder. At first, this person is storing stuff in different |
2:32.9 | cabinetry. But over time, things start building up in the kitchen and the living room and the |
