I'm the mother of racism. I've seen this year.

I've had my fair share of breakdowns inspired by the social media

friends of my posting about rising, racist sentiment.

I'd love to have a discourse. I'd love to talk about it, but there's no way too.

And I've just found that over this last election cycle, I just shut down.

It's not to self the tech show about being human. I'm a new summer.

We've heard from many of you who are struggling with how to deal with the racism

that you're seeing online. You want to be engaged informed citizens,

but you could do without the nauseating pit in your stomach every time you log on.

So we figured that now is the perfect time to revisit an episode that we did

about how to constructively talk about race and politics.

We originally put together this episode in the wake of the protests in Ferguson, Missouri.

But it really, these lessons that we talk about, they really apply to any tough,

maybe even offensive conversation that you may be having this holiday season.

Online or off, especially in the run-up to this inauguration.

Because it's Thanksgiving and talking politics and race at some dinner tables can get kind of fraught.

What you're about to hear are some wise words to fall back on to keep you calm and collected.

When really what you feel like doing is banging out your anger in all caps on Twitter

or looking across the turkey into the eyes of that horrible cousin

who you've always had issues with and letting him know how you really feel.
