| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome back to the Consistency Project podcast. My name is Patrick Cummings. I'm every week |
| 0:06.0 | here on the show, EC, and I aim to simplify the principles and practices of nutrition, health, and |
| 0:12.0 | fitness. We thank you for tuning in this week, every week while I'm at it. This week I'm here with |
| 0:19.2 | just a quick introduction because what we've got for you |
| 0:21.7 | this time around is a conversation that EC had a little while back on another podcast. It's called |
| 0:26.8 | The Nourishing You Podcast, which is presented by the National Association of Nutrition Professionals |
| 0:32.3 | or N-A-N-P. The hosts are Kristen Burkett and Diana Wall. And together, the three of them talk about stress, |
| 0:40.8 | what it actually is, how it shapes our eating habits, and of course, what we can do about it. |
| 0:45.8 | So without any further ado, let us get into this conversation. Enjoy. |
| 0:50.4 | Well, so today, we're going to tackle a topic that affects almost everyone, and that's stress. |

| 1:09.8 | So maybe to start unpacking this, can you |
| 1:12.3 | break down for us what stress is and how our body might react to stress? Yeah, I mean, I think |
| 1:19.8 | stress is always interpreted in the negative. It's, you know, I'm stressed out and therefore, |
| 1:25.4 | you know, it's affecting my weight and body composition, as you mentioned. |
| 1:28.3 | But stress is just really a stimulus that causes an adaptation. And sometimes that can be quite |
| 1:34.4 | favorable. I'm sure some of us can all remember some sort of time at work when maybe we were |
| 1:38.8 | really stressed, but we also got a big project done. Or even stress from exercise causes a lot of |
| 1:43.4 | favorable adaptations. |
| 1:44.7 | So you really want to think about it as an external stimuli that's driving an adaptation, |
| 1:48.2 | and that can be both favorable and it can also be not favorable. |
