your calling is not one role and what is a calling? Well, I've done a number of podcasts on calling. I'm

sure this won't be the last, as I don't believe anyone has a definitive definition of what a calling is and what yours is supposed to be.

I'm a fan of a continued discussion with various experts.

I spent many years talking about calling and purpose as this holy grail discovery.

Even as I did so many different things vocationally and personally

and all the while feeling very fulfilled and inspired and purposeful in my work. But it wasn't

until I had kids actually in high school and became concerned because they were really

daunted by this idea of finding that big one thing.

And I started to understand calling not just as one role, but more as a position I can engage with in many,

many areas. So a few years ago, I sat down with someone that I view as a sage regarding calling.

That's my dad, Dan Miller, famed author of 48 Days to the Work and Life You Love.

He helped so many people expand their understanding, including me, of themselves and what they

had to offer, which was offerings that transferred to many, many applications. He'd so often find

someone and tell the stories later who had been wildly successful, maybe in the corporate

world or in business or athletics or politics or whatever, but that role came to an end and they

had no idea what to do. They didn't know how to transfer their skills to

something else. And for that matter, they weren't very clear on what their skills actually were.

They thought, I just know how to do that job. And they related incorrectly or not in a productive way

to what a calling really was. How did it connect with their hearts? So in this conversation,

we discussed the myth of this narrow calling, this one role. And we also address what is a
