Summary

Your Awake Heart Is Calling You - As individuals and societies, we are pulled by both the insecurity of our evolutionary past, and by our awake heart, our capacity for mindfulness and compassion. This talk explores the ways we can listen to and respond to the call of our awake heart, by training ourselves to open to vulnerability (our own and others) and widen the circles of compassion (a favorite from the 2017 archives).

0:34.6	And I thought I'd start with a story that I was reminded of recently.
0:39.1	It happened some years back when I was teaching at Cropalu a weekend on awakening, loving
0:46.2	presence.
0:47.2	And one evening we were exploring, getting into a real, de-place of inter-listening.
0:54.6	And I had arranged to have my husband, Jonathan play the flute, so we were going to get
0:58.9	into a real quiet place and then listen to the flute music.
1:03.2	So we did a meditation and the room became very, very still.
1:07.6	And then all of a sudden a woman's cell phone went off as it has happened.
1:12.8	And it was the yellow rose of Texas.
1:15.3	And you know it.
1:19.0	And so all of a sudden this thing's blaring.
1:21.7	She panicked.
1:22.7	So she tries to grab her phone out of her bag, but by mistake she hit the speaker phone.
1:29.4	So you hear this voice going, Mom, she's grabbed, trying to grab her phone.
1:34.6	Mom, is that you?
1:36.9	So she's trying to get out of the room because she was up front.
1:39.7	And you hear this voice going, Mom, speak to me, Mom, are you okay, Mom?
