Summary
This week, we are talking about something that I genuinely think is shaping our careers, our creativity, our relationships, and our confidence more than we realise, which is the fear of being cringe.
I did a bonus episode on this over a year ago now and it got such a huge response, and since then I’ve come to genuinely think the main thing that holds most people back is not lack of talent, not lack of ideas, not even lack of discipline. It’s fear of what other people think.
So this episode is basically me unpacking all of that, the psychology behind why we care so much about what people think, why we massively overestimate how much people are paying attention to us, and the practical things that have genuinely helped me stop letting fear of perception make my decisions for me.

| 0:48.6 | embarrassing in public, of trying something and having someone roll their eyes at you, |
| 0:56.0 | of putting yourself forward and being judged for it. I did a bonus episode on this over a year ago now and it got such a huge response |
| 1:01.3 | and since then I've come to genuinely think that the main thing that holds most people back |

| 1:11.5 | It is a fear of what other people think. |
| 1:13.7 | And what makes that even sadder, I think, is that some of the people with the most to give |
| 1:19.6 | are often the ones holding back the most because they are hyper aware of how they're perceived. |
| 1:25.6 | And I really don't think we ourselves are to blame because we're |
| 1:28.3 | living in a time where everything feels very public. It is very public. It feels permanent. It feels |
| 1:33.5 | open to commentary and that makes risk feel heavier than it ever has before. So today I really want to |
| 1:38.9 | unpack why there is. I want to talk through three steps that have really helped me to actually |
