I was told by the Speaker of the House at the time and the majority leader at the time.

When I was put on the intelligence committee they both said

the exact same thing. Elise Stefonic is going to wind up being one of your favorite colleagues.

And I looked at him like I always looked at him like I'm like I don't know I don't know we're very well we're on different committees. She's really too smart to hang around the friends I have. I mean I was hanging around Tim Scott and John

Radcliffe and Kevin McCarthy so obviously you know I have a certain kind of friend I'm

looking for which is not very smart really sarcastic and kind of an underachiever

So I didn't believe them but they were right sitting beside at least Stefonic in committee

Then led to me sitting beside her on the floor of the house

and you get to sit wherever you want.

I just wanted to sit by her.

I got to see the way she prepares.

I got to see her work ethic.

I got to see yes, how smart she was, but also how serious she was.

And she may have been the youngest member of the house when I met her, she probably was.

I mean, I think I've got golf clubs that are older than Elise is, but you actually

forget about her youth when you meet her because she has the maturity of someone who has been around for a long time and I could not be happier to welcome her.
