I have these little moments I remember when you sort of...

When I first started doing this job, there is a sense or a temptation, if that's the right word, to forget that you're talking both

about and two real people. Do you know what I mean by that? I forget that, you know, whatever

story it is that I might discuss, you might be living in the middle of it. You might actually

be going through it. The nuances that it is sometimes tempting to ignore or avoid

are going to be of enormous importance, possibly to you, and possibly not.

But, and equally, even if people are in the news and you start talking about them,

you forget that you could be talking to them.

That this notion of broad brushstrokes or deliberate provocation,

which sadly seems to be enjoying a bit of a renaissance, doesn't it,

in other corners of the British media.

The outrageous things, the deliberately provocative things said to excite or to even insight

seem to be making a bit of a comeback in this country after,

I guess, America being ahead of the game or leading the way.

And I always remember little moments. I've shared, I tell you about them sometimes.
