was one of them. But how much of what we saw on the screen actually occurred in real life?

Did John Chisholm really put a bounty on Billy the Kid's head? Did an old man named Brushy Bill

Roberts really stepped forward decades later claiming to be the kid? And what about Pat Garrett? Was he really part of

Billy the Kid's gang? That showdown at White Oaks really happened like they portrayed in the movie?

And what the heck was Dave Rudebaw's real nickname? Spoiler alert, it was not Arkansas. And that is

exactly what we're going to be discussing today, plus a whole lot more.

I recently had a chance to sit down with the great Dan LaFeb, the award-winning host of the Based on a True Story podcast.

If you're not familiar, Dan's been running based on True Story since 2016, comparing

real history with what we see on screen and movies and television.

His show has covered hundreds of titles, from historical epics to cult favorites,

breaking down what the filmmakers got right and what they got wrong.
