Outrage after a career criminal suspected in the death of her son is once again given the opportunity to get out of

jail 34 year old Jerry Hoskins was shot on Emancipation Avenue last December

Cedric Brooks was arrested and charged with murder.

He has since been given a $300,000 bond.

And tonight Hoskins' mother is speaking only to our Devon Clark who joins us from outside the Harris

County Jail with how she hopes to help change the bond system and keep violent

offenders off the street. This long list of criminal history is exactly why that grieving mother and crime victims advocates

are pushing for a bill that would allow judges to have discretion

when it comes to granting bond.

The shoes I'm walking in right now is very heavy.

And I just don't understand.

Tamika Moore says her life shattered just before Christmas last year when her 34 year old son

Charek Hoskins was shot and killed outside of a restaurant on Emancipation Avenue.

Hoskins has since been laid to rest but Moore says it was like a wound opened up when his

suspected killer 32 year old Ced D'Zill Brooks was given a $300,000 bond.

My son being the victim, he was murdered on December the 18th by someone who's a habitual

criminal.

The Texas Department of Public Safety shows Brooks has convictions dating back to 2009 for multiple crimes including

criminal trespass, theft, and burglary. In 2018, we reported on Brooks a documented gang

member being arrested yet again.
