My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me.

I adore you with profound reverence.

I ask your pardon for my sins and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful.

My Immaculate Mother, St. Joseph, my Father and Lord,

my guardian angel, intercede for me.

The 22nd Sunday in ordinary time.

A reading from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 14.

When you give a dinner or a banquet,

do not invite your friends or your brothers

or your kinsmen

or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast,

invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot

repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

Generosity is about giving without expecting anything in exchange,

giving until it hurts.

When we give in that way, we are not just helping others.

We are primarily helping ourselves.

We are the first beneficiary of our virtue of generosity.
