Welcome back everyone to a new episode of your wrong with me David Harsani and Molly Hemingway Molly. How's it going? It's going great.

0:26.0

You always say that. It's not going back. It's going pretty terrible country. Wait, really?

0:35.0

No, I'm just kidding. Okay. We're going to have another episode here. I want to start talking about something that is just obviously one of the most exciting things that's been going on. We've been talking about a week after week. It's the story about classified documents.

0:47.0

I was like, I wonder if anyone really cares about this stuff other than a political got you, but I have to say, and I'm not saying this because I'm some principle person, but I actually care about this issue because I think it reflects kind of how unserious we've become as a nation in a way.

1:04.0

How people just ignore the law who are in power, laws are arbitrarily enforced. People, you know, are complete massive hypocrites on this where they know, you know, where, for instance, Joe Biden probably, I think he knew he had classified documents, but was still okay with the FBI raiding the home of the ex-present things like that. It just shows the hypocrisy, the double standards and the unsuriusness of the nation. Do you agree Molly?

1:32.0

I love this story. First of all, I love the classification document story and not because I really care about classification. I think we have a system of classification that is designed to obscure transparency and fight self-government.

1:51.0

But before we get into that, I just want to say I love this story. The DOJ does this completely politicized raid on their arch enemy, Donald Trump, that everyone gets all up in arms about and they're taking it very seriously. Like this is a legitimate thing that the DOJ wants to go after this guy for something real.

2:12.0

As if like, you know, if I was kind of like you had to be an idiot to think it was real. And then Joe Biden comes in and Lee Roy Jenkins, it, Jenkins is it with this disclosure of all these classified documents that he has all over the Eastern seaboard. And you know, it's dripping out in little ways and some of them are very top secret and there's, it's like kind of unclear why they're even around.

2:38.0

And then just as we're having fun with that, Mike Pence rolls in Mike Pence, who I like Mike Pence in many ways.

2:49.0

But like, do you remember when he was trying to sell a book or otherwise doing something and David and we're asks him, you know, can you just like fathom why anybody decent in this world would ever have classified documents.

3:06.0

And Mike Pence, who should have said you're an idiot. That's a stupid question. You just take Trump and like, I disagree with him on stuff, but this is, we all know this is a joke. No, no, Mike Pence says I can't think of any reason why anyone would have classified documents and like David Mera's like, did you take any classified documents and Mike Pence is, you know, very troubled. No, I never took class.

3:29.0

So he rolls in, he has classified documents. If you can't enjoy this story, you have no sense of humor.

3:37.0

Yeah, I agree with all that. I don't very much care about these documents, though, and maybe this is a little bit of my partisanship coming through, I think that, you know, I am interested now after this has happened to know what's in those documents. I want to know what documents Joe Biden took from his Senate years. And I want to know why they aren't declassified yet. What could possibly be going on from 1984 or whenever that we can't know about.

4:05.0

Which brings me to the fact that of over, you know, or the criticism of over classification. I was trying to figure out how many documents are classified every year by the White House and executive branch. We don't know they don't keep any record or if they do it's classified and we don't know about it.

4:16.0

Someone says that's probably around 50 million documents or more every year, not every administration. That's a massive amount.

4:25.0

It's just designed to keep people from finding out what's going on. There was this great piece. I worry I mentioned it last week, but maybe I didn't I read it in tablet. Jacob Seagull, I think was the author on how you need to know what's going on to be a free people. You have to have knowledge and information about what your government is doing.

4:35.0

And we've just grown accustomed to not really knowing what's going on and accepting it. You know, he was using examples from inside and outside the government. And I think that's really important.

4:56.0

And I'm accustomed to not really knowing what's going on and accepting it. You know, he was using examples from inside and outside the government, just like what we don't know about things that you would expect you would know like Jeffrey Epstein's involvement as an FBI source or as a conference.

5:13.0

Well, there are 14,000 documents from the JFK assassination investigation that have not been declassified yet. Literally the Soviet Union is gone. Castro is gone. This happened. How many years ago, 70 years ago, there is no reason for that not to be declassified.

5:29.0

Oh, I think we I think you're wrong. Meaning I agreed that we should know what blows me away is that nobody declassifies it. Like most of all people have had the opportunity.

5:40.0

And it's like the moment they see it, they're like, nope, we can't let this out. So how bad is it like obviously it has to do must have to do with our CIA involvement in that.
