So, Molly, how'd you enjoy Liberation Day the other day?

I was traveling last week a lot, and so I have missed a lot of the Sturmund Drong of everyone's reaction to liberation

day.

Like I still haven't even seen the original announcement.

You tell me about it, David.

I should preface this by saying anyone who follows me on Twitter knows that I get pretty into this topic.

I think it's the topic I cared about the most when I got into, I guess, political journalism.

And I don't even know how to start.

I guess the most surprising thing was that on Liberation Day, the administration released

this kind of chart of each country and the reciprocal rates that it wanted to have, right?

But it wasn't like, oh, Japan has a 2% weighted tariff.

They came up with this cockamamie formula where they measure trade deficits and

surpluses. So Israel has put zero tariffs on everything, but they still get a, I forgot what it is, a 10%

tariff rate on their stuff coming in because of trade deficits. Now, I tell people this all the time. No one seems to care,

but poorer countries than us are never going to be able to buy the expensive stuff we make

or as much of it as we can buy their cheap stuff. So Cambodia, Vietnam, they're not ripping us off.

We're buying stuff from them.

But anyway, I would just also preface everything by saying, even if you're for tariffs and

for protectionism, I don't think that you can make the argument that the administration
