I was recently hanging out with my family on a Sunday and we just got back from a hike

and we were just kind of catching up and just seeing like, oh, like what's up with you?

And we started talking just obviously about family matters.

And I told one of my family members, who will be unnamed, that I've been dealing with depression

anxiety and I've been dealing with depression anxiety for the majority of my life. And even as I was

going through the symptoms that I know I had that matched depression and anxiety, this person

still was like, no, you know what? Like, you probably just need to

take a nap or something. You need to just like lay down. You just need to like, you know, just

find what you need to do as long as it's not like mental health related. And that kind of struck me

as really kind of hurtful, even if, you know, this person didn't mean for it to be hurtful.

It made me feel like my feelings weren't valid, or even that I was the cause of my own

depression and anxiety. You know, this is a conversation a lot of people have with their

friends and family, and it made me wonder, you know, how many people are actually dealing with the same thing,

even when they, you know, produce proof and facts. Like, this is what I'm going through. It's like,

oh, but you know what? We don't really go through that.

I just want to drop it hello.

Taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies.
