I'm sitting here trying to figure out why it seems like being a comedian is the only profession in the world

where when you tell people what you do for a living, they think it's okay to ask you to do your job.

Why would you do that?

I can't think of any other profession where someone would tell you what they do

and you would think it's okay to ask them to perform. I can't. What you do for a living? I'm a chef. Oh, make me a meal! I'm a police officer. Oh, read me my rights! I'm a lawyer. Defend me. I'm a doctor. Save me. I'm a dentist. Jump in my mouth. I've have a cavity I've been waiting for someone to look at. Nice to meet you.
