0:14.0	God has called you. I'm in a Bible study right now with the women at my church and we're going through Ephesians. And
0:22.2	this past week we were in Ephesians 4 starting off in verse 1 and after Paul has just gone through
0:27.7	so much about who we are in Christ because of what Christ is done and because of who Christ is,
0:35.3	he then says, therefore I urge you, I beg you to walk in a manner
0:41.7	worthy of the calling that you have received. You have been called. And friend, I just want to
0:47.9	encourage you today that you have been called. You have been called out of the darkness and into God's marvelous light. You have been
0:57.0	called to a confident hope. You have been called to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel.

1:15.7	Friends, we are in Matthew 5 today, but to give a little bit of context leading up to where we're going to be hanging out,
1:24.0	what's happened leading up to this point is, and at the end of Matthew 3, we see that Jesus gets baptized by John the Baptist, starting in Matthew 4.
1:35.0	He is in the wilderness for 40 days, being tempted by the devil, and that's just so good.
1:41.1	I could hang out there for a long time.
1:42.9	It's tempted by the devil.
1:43.6	He conquers the temptations of the evil one every single time with the word of God by the power
1:49.4	of the spirit, looking to the father. So good, so rich. Then he leaves the wilderness to start his
1:56.1	ministry. And he calls his first disciples. He calls Peter and James and John and Andrew. And tons of crowds begin flocking to him in Matthew 4 because they are getting healed and they're getting delivered. And there's so many miracles are happening. Word is spreading that there's this man and he's able to do what seems
2:20.5	impossible. And so everybody wants to be with him. Everybody wants to hear what he has to say.
2:25.1	Everybody wants to be near him. And so that's where we pick up at the start of Matthew 5. Because at the
2:31.7	start of Matthew 5, it says that Jesus sees the crowds and so he goes so he goes
2:36.8	and he sits on the top of this mountain and his disciples come to him and he starts to teach them
