0:14.0	As we study through the life of John the Baptist, we will discover why God used him in such a powerful way.
0:20.0	Join us now for today's study. Sometimes when you read the Bible, it is tempting to think that the Bible character somehow had greater insight or understanding than we do.
0:52.1	But in fact, the reverse is actually true because we have the complete
0:57.0	word of God. We have the finished revelation. So you look at a man like John the Baptist who we've
1:02.2	been journeying with for these last many days and you think, wow, what an opportunity he had.
1:08.6	And certainly he did. And yet, is it possible that you have a greater
1:12.9	opportunity than John the Baptist did we've been talking about John the Baptist
1:17.3	witness and how God used him to set so much in motion and while all of that is true
1:22.6	I would take you back to the words of Jesus in Matthew chapter number 11. The same verse where he said that
1:29.1	among them that are born of women, thereeth not risen are greater than John the Baptist. That same
1:33.5	verse, Matthew 1111, he says, notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater
1:39.9	than he. Now, how is that possible? How is it possible that we could be greater than John the
1:46.5	Baptist, that we could have a greater impact than John the Baptist? A friend, you have the same work
1:51.4	as John the Baptist, and that is the work of pointing other people to Jesus Christ. But you do have
1:56.9	something John didn't have. You have a full understanding of the gospel message. You have the
2:02.3	indwelling Holy Spirit, and you have an ascended Christ who has seated at the right hand of the
2:09.3	Father today, and he's praying for you. Don't take for granted what you have in the Lord Jesus Christ. I think someday when we get to heaven
2:19.4	we say well I want to shake John the Baptist hand I want to meet this man and I
2:23.3	want to thank him for his work but I wonder if someone like John the Baptist
2:26.5	isn't going to ask us why didn't you do more with what Christ gave you? Think of
2:31.1	of what we have in the scriptures think of what we have in prayer. Think of what we have in the scriptures. Think of what we have in prayer.
