Good morning everyone and welcome back to another morning with the masters where we devote

0:14.9

ourselves to the Lord daily with you. Good morning you guys. We are picking up with day five of our

0:20.5

don't waste your life devotional in the Bible app. There's a link to that in the description of

0:24.4

the podcast. If you guys want to follow along with us and as always I'm going to read the scripture

0:28.0

then Tori is going to pick it with the divo. Let's do it. The scripture is Colossians chapter 3

0:32.9

verses 23 and 24 and it says this. Work willingly at whatever you do as though you are working for

0:40.0

the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward

0:46.3

and that the master you are serving is Christ. The devotional is titled making much of Christ from

0:53.4

8 to 5 and it says the call to be a Christian was not a call to leave your secular vocation.

1:01.2

1:17.7

Paul had a high view of the providence of God that God had sovereignly assigned or called

1:24.8

unbelievers to positions in life where their conversion would have significant impact for his glory.

1:32.4

Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him and to which God has called

1:41.6

Paul does not mean that changing jobs is wrong in the Christian life. Otherwise no one could

1:47.8

become a vocational pastor or missionary except very young people unlike Jesus who changed from

1:54.1

carpentry to full-time ministry when he was 30. What Paul does mean is that when we are converted

2:01.2

we should not jump to the conclusion my job must change. Rather our thought should be God has put

2:08.6

me here and I should now display his worth in this job. As verse 24 says there let him remain

2:18.3

with God. Therefore the burning question for most Christians should be how can my life count for

2:25.4

the glory of God in my secular vocation our aim is to joyfully magnify Christ to make him look great

2:33.6

by all we do. Boasting only in the cross our aim is to enjoy making much of him by the way we work.
