Today's question was a little bit different for Ask Alice.

We have gone with one that focused on dating,

which feels very strange for me,

having recently got married to think back that fart when dating was a thing that I did.

But it was a question about advice you'd give your early 20 self

about dating.

So to fill you in, I was pretty rubbish when it came to dating, so I feel like I had to really think deep about the advice that I'd give myself.

But I thought I'd kind of paint the picture by telling you, I guess, a nice positive story about how I met Patty and how that was a very different date to the ones previously because then it can kind of help me to then shape the advice that I'm then going to give.

Patty and I met by using a dating app called Happen and it was a dating

app that when you walked past each other in the street they like flagged up on

your phone so basically we both had the app we both flagged up each other's phone and I think we connected,

but then we didn't speak to each other for maybe a couple of weeks and then I remember thinking,

oh my goodness I forgot that that guy had popped up and then we

ended up matching again on bumble so clearly the stars were aligned and we went on

our first date at La Pan-Caudidian on the Kings Road. I was currently at the time working at a gym in Chelsea, so I was sort of in that area anyway.

And so we went for our first date, which was a coffee date,

which was very unusual for me.

Most of my dates previously had been like going out in the evening,

going for dinner, going for a drink.

So it was really nice to kind of go where there was zero pressure. I did not get dressed up.

I literally rocked up in my gym kit. He'd come from something. He had like a massive bag with him because he was coming from something and going to something.
