Hello, friends and neighbors, and welcome. Welcome to the Bill Press Pod. You know, when it comes to an impeachment inquiry of the president, this isn't our first rodeo. It's actually the fourth, three of whom were impeached. Richard Nixon resigned first.

Of course, the last president to be impeached was Bill Clinton on October 8, 1998, 21 years ago.

And the man who ran the investigation into President Clinton was Special Counsel Ken Starr, but the man who

ran the White House war room defending President Clinton was attorney Lanny Davis. Nobody knows better

than Lanny Davis that there are a lot of differences between that impeachment inquiry and this

one, and nobody's in a better position to comment on how the

impeachment inquiry is being handled by Democrats in the House and by the White House. So for his

take on this historical moment, we sat down with Landy Davis in his office, just two blocks from the

White House. Lanny Davis, good to see you again.

We are in the middle of an impeachment inquiry on President Donald Trump.

Do you believe that this impeachment inquiry is justified?

Yes, but I am concerned about the Democrats raising expectations too high.

He's going to be replaced at the ballot box, I believe, and we need to be sure that that foundation

as to the rationale for going forward, knowing that it's almost certain that we won't have a two-thirds vote in the Senate,

and that is the ballot box that should decide.

So that's a kind of a message concern about the impeachment, but I do believe it's justified

in that he will be impeached in the House of Representatives.

Justified on what grounds?

Well, I was on the fence about going through a fruitless exercise and losing a lot of the persuadable voters

by doing so until I recognize this is about our Constitution. If the House of Representatives
