So as we jump in today, I want to ask you if you have noticed a similar trend that I have

noticed. And that is that we are a people who love to be happy. We love it when things feel easy and who love to be happy.

We love it when things feel easy,

and we love to be comfortable, and we seek pleasure,

and we will do whatever we gotta do

to avoid pain and discomfort,

and don't make me park at the back of the parking lot.

Like, I just, I like it when it's easy, right? Now,

uh, sometime last year, we had one week in our family's home where our dishwasher broke,

our refrigerator broke, and our dryer broke. I mean, talk about first world suffering.

This was a moment for us.

And we called it the appliance apocalypse

because we were pretty certain we had just stepped into end times.

It was like, are you kidding me?

I have to wash my own dishes by hand. This is not okay. And so, you know, we all face all kinds of suffering in this life. And sometimes it's like little things that are just more inconveniences and annoyances, but sometimes it hits us a bit harder. And I was thinking about why do we always expect

that we should be happy? Why are we always surprised when things don't go our way? And I think I've come up

with the root source. As I was meditating on this and thinking about it, and it was surprising to me.

It might be surprising to you, too.

I feel like the root source of this problem of how we always are seeking happiness

comes back to the birthday card industry.
