Any interview, especially an interview in 1988 is a bit of a negotiation. Candidates by this time are well handled.

Reporters just walk up and talk to them and if they do they're not going to get the answer to just any question.

But for E.J. D.O. N. of the New York Times, this would be the one and in fact it would be remembered

well as the profile interview of Gary Hart.

It feels to many, sir, that when questions turn to yourself, you don't want to answer.
