Well, hello there. It's Morgan Harper-Nichols here. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space where I turn the lens on various topics and subjects in hopes to learn something new or see something in a new way. Today's piece is called You Are Worth the Same Love You Give.

0:23.3

Today's episode is for the one who gives a lot, for the one who loves others so well with all you have.

0:35.5

If that's you today, I want to leave you with an image that you can carry with

0:41.1

you throughout the day. And I will link to the actual image I'm talking about in the description

0:48.0

of this podcast so you can literally carry it with you throughout the day if you would like.

0:53.5

So this image is something I painted

0:55.9

some time ago and it's kind of a rustic interpretation of a sunflower and the image says,

1:03.7

you love others so well. You see where light pours through. May you know the same love you give you are worthy of too.

1:19.6

I painted these words into kind of the center of the sunflower. And I use the word sunflower loosely because it's not actually a sunflower. I do tend to get a little

1:32.4

technical sometimes about my drawings. I'm like, well, it's not technically it's sunflower. But when I started

painting it, I was thinking of the sunflower. I was thinking how the sunflower has an internal rhythm that allows the flower itself

1:48.8

to follow the sun throughout the day. So as the sun moves through the sky, so does the sunflower. And every time I've seen time lapses of this or I've thought of this process of

2:07.4

the sunflower following the sun, I think about how at times people do the same. We kind of see where the light is and we follow the light

2:21.2

throughout the day and that's wonderful and that's beautiful. However, what about all

2:29.0

of those times where that light is pouring in through the lens of our relationships and the people that we

2:38.7

see every day. And we find ourselves following and seeking and following the course of what

2:46.4

other people are doing and we're just latching on to the light that pours from their life.

2:54.5

And while that is beautiful, at the same time, it can be easy to forget that we are worthy of

3:03.5

being seen in the same way, in the same way that we can focus in on others and admire their

3:10.9

beauty and admire their worth, admire their skills, and make time for their story, all of these

3:17.7

wonderful things. Oh, what a gift it would be if we could remember that we are worthy of the same attention.

3:29.8

Because as the flower follows the path of the sun throughout the sky, at the same time,
