Israel's Defence Minister Joav Galand arrived in Washington, D.C. for talks with American officials.

Discussions will cover both Israel's offensive in Gaza and intensifying hostilities on a second front with Hezbollah the Iran-backed movement

that controls much of Lebanon. Lately relations between the two allies have been

frayed. Benjamin Netanyahu Israel's Prime Minister complained on Sunday and China and the European Union agreed to begin talks to reduce tensions around exports of cheap electric vehicles.

The EU said this month that it would raise tariffs on Chinese EVs as high as 48%, following an anti-subsidy investigation begun in 2023.

Germany's Vice Chancellor Robert Harbeck, who is visiting Beijing, welcomed the decision as a first step of many.

Gunman in Dagestan, a Muslim majority republic in Russia,

killed at least six people in a series of, quote, terrorist attacks according to Russia's

counter-terrorism agency. Street fights erupted after the attacks on churches and a

police checkpoint in Mahajkala, the region's largest city.

A synagogue in Derbent, a coastal city, was set a flame.

The victims include police officers and a priest.

Two attackers were reportedly shot dead.
