| 0:00.0 | Hey, I'm Christine Taylor and I'm David Lashon. Remember when life felt a little simpler but everything was changing? That's the space we explore every week on Hey Dude The 90s Call. The heartbreak of booking a national and then being, do you remember this being downgraded? Do you remember that this ever happened? So I would I remember doing a crest no I remember doing a crest commercial toothpaste and I booked it National Spot remember auditioning a great great advertising 7777. Oh I remember it yes yeah and I booked this crest commercial and it was a big deal and I was so excited was yeah just pumped and we go to shoot and we shoot it. And is like me and like a couple other kids and I could kind of feel myself getting shoved a little fit literally to the periphery of the shot. And I think I might have had a line that I did in one take, but then the next take they were like, you don't need to say that't need to say that anymore. Okay that's fine. Whatever you just need my beautiful face obviously. Everyone says it's gorgeous so that makes sense. And and I remember shooting it and then getting a call from the agent or manager you know or my mom called a got the call and saying that I was downgraded, |
| 1:25.4 | which basically meant I was not in it enough, and they didn't have to pay me the national commercial rates, and I was downgraded. And I remember thinking. So residuals were different, and all of it was different. Everything, and I remember being so bummed, so bummed. Wow, you still remember that feeling? Yeah, I still talk about it in therapy and podcast. I remember booking. It was a national commercial for the Pee Wee Herman doll. And it was, it was, and I had done some big commercials and that, because that was how I got started to. And I remember like, when I went into audition for it, I just had to be the annoyed older sister, who was like, get out of here and like, you know, leave the couch, because it a it was like a younger brother who was tormenting his family with the pee we herman doll and he would pull the string and the doll would give one of pee we's lines. And honestly, like as we were shooting it, it was becoming very clear that this was like a horrible commercial. This podcast isn't just about the decade. It's about growing up, falling down, and everything in between. We're sitting down with our friends, castmates, creators, even fans of an era that everyone seems to be so nostalgic for. We'll talk about the work, the impact, even the personal stories you've never heard before. Hey dude, the 90s called New Episodes every week. |
