2025, this is the sort of sister or sort of offshoot podcast to Dark Histories. My name's Ben. I'm the host as always.

This week we're going to start, I think, with a little sporting story Monday the 20th of

April and it comes from 1823. Now this is from a paper called Bell's Life in London and Sporting Chronicle,

which claims to report on interesting bits of real life,

which I think is probably a bit of an understatement.

There is a bit of a backstory before I kind of launch into this.

It's quite a long sporting piece, but it's about a boxing match. And

the best I can tell is between a boxer called Dick Curtis and Peter Warren. And I sort of got

a bit into it and looked into it a little bit more. And there is some backstory. So Dick Curtis

beat Peter Warren quite badly a few months before this fight.

But Warren apparently at the time was not half satisfied on the subject

and attributed his failure to accident, apparently.

So he wanted a rematch, right?
