Hello, I'm Susan Hume and this is the Yesterday in Parliament podcast. On Wednesday,

the 19th of November, the opposition leader was still trying to nail down the government on tax,

though it was the Scotland football result that cheered lots of MPs up.

thanks to a spectacular bicycle kick into the back of the net and a couple more slotted in at the final moment for a 4-2 victory.

Mr Speaker, let me start by congratulating Scotland on their magnificent victory last night,

qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

MPs yelled like they were on the terraces.

Perhaps for the first time ever,

the SNP cheered something a Westminster Prime Minister said.

But sadly for Secure Stamer,

the opposition leader didn't want to talk about football.

Can the Prime Minister tell us why his government is the first government in history

to float increasing income tax rates

only to then you turn on it all after the actual budget.

She perhaps meant to say before the actual budget, although it certainly has been a confusing time,

with a grin, Kirstamer, Kirstamer the budget is actually next week rather than after the budget.

It's only got one week to go.

But I can tell her it'll be a labour budget, Mr Speaker, with labour values.
