when MPs discussed the findings of the report into grooming gangs in England and Wales.

The Home Secretary of Ed Cooper arrived in the Commons carrying the latest report into the

grooming gang scandal. The White Hall troubleshooter Louise Casey had been commissioned to carry

out a review earlier in the year in the wake of a bitter political row played out in Parliament

and on social media. Now the independent or cross-bench peer

had found that there'd been a collective failure to address questions about the ethnicity

of the perpetrators and said there had been enough convictions of men from Asian backgrounds

to have warranted closer examination. Yvette Cooper said Lady Casey's review was damning.

At its heart, she identifies a deep-rooted failure to treat children as children.

A continued failure to protect children and teenage girls from rape,

from exploitation and serious violence, and from the scars that last a lifetime.
