On Thursday the 13th of March, the Health Secretary announced a major shake-up of NHS England.

Health chiefs found themselves in a ticklish situation on Thursday morning.

They were being questioned by MPs in Parliament

and they surely knew the Prime Minister was about to do a big reveal,

the scrapping of the management body NHS England.

But they couldn't say anything about it before he did.

The Conservative Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown reckoned something was afoot.

Exactly what is happening to NHS England.

So Chris Whitty, who's the acting chief Mandarin at the Department of Health and Social Care, the DHSC,

replied with plenty of words but didn't quite answer the question beyond what was already known that change was coming.

The NHS has a lot of consequences that need to be thought through and Julian may well want to add to this.

He may not.

Funnily enough, Julian, another health chief, did not want to add to that. So Geoffrey wanted to know when there'd be clarity.

I'm still going to press you slightly on the sort of timetable. Are we looking at weeks, months?
